Political implications of the Covid-19 pandemic

This online workshop discussed a paper prepared by the researcher Jihad Harb on the political implications of the Covid-19 pandemic on the Palestinian situation. The workshop had 40 participants from political, academic and civil society sectors, from the West Bank and the Gaza Strip.

The participants called for initiation of a comprehensive national dialogue to end the division and to restore national unity, and to adopt a Palestinian national plan, capable of confronting the Covid-19 and strengthening the resilience of the citizens facing the current political challenges, especially the annexation plans, which the occupation government intends to implement during the next phase. The participants highlighted the importance of popular pressure to end the division, and to restore unity. Key issues mentioned by the participants include  political partnerships; reconsidering the functions and obligations of the Palestinian Authority, restoring the PLO.
