A virtual workshop was held to discuss a paper prepared by Dr. Yahya Abed, Professor of Public Health at Al-Quds University, titled “Palestinian Strategies to Control the Outbreak of the Covid-19 Pandemic”. Participants – including researchers, doctors, and experts in public health and epidemics – discussed the health implications of the spread of the Covid-19 pandemic in Palestine, and the Palestinian strategy to control the pandemic.
The importance of cooperation between the Ministry of Health and the private health sector institutions was emphasized to confront the pandemic. In addition, the importance of providing necessary medical needs especially in Jerusalem and the Gaza Strip, which suffer from blockade, was highlighted. The participants stressed the importance of social distancing and following the necessary preventive measures from washing hands, wearing face masks and gloves, as well as equipping health facilities with necessary equipment and devices, such as respirators. The importance of training medical personnel to deal with different scenarios was also highlighted.
The dialogue workshop was moderated by Dr. Emad Abu Rahma, academic and consultant at Masarat Center. The workshop was broadcasted live on social media, and the workshop reached 3618 views.
